SNS - Centre for Business and Policy Studies
SNS is an independent network of leading decision makers from the private and public sectors who share a commitment to social and economic development in Sweden. Its aim is to improve the basis for rational decisions on major social and economic issues, by promoting social science research and stimulating public debate.
The Swedish Centre for Business and Policy Studies
- carries out policy-related social and economic research, in which leading social scientists participate in interaction with senior executives and officials in the private and public sectors
- publishes research reports, other books aimed at stimulating policy debate and textbooks
- organises conferences, courses, seminars and local meetings with participation of academics, business leaders, heads of public bodies, politicians, representatives of special interest groups and the media, and other opinion makers
- works with universities and research institutions in Sweden and abroad
- is private, non-profit and non-partisan
- has 4 000 individual members and some 23 local branches, eight of which are outside Sweden
- employs a staff of 30 at its office in Stockholm
- is financed through membership fees, research grants, income from publishing and conferences and annual subscriptions by companies, public bodies and other organisations
- was founded in 1948 by members of the Swedish business community with an interest in social and economic issues.
