Raghuram Rajan, one of the world’s most influential economists, visited SNS for a conversation about the major forces that are defining the world economy today and the challenges that are to come. Rajan stated that,
The economic forces that have been playing out the last couple of decades are probably going to get worse. In fact, I believe that unless we change the structure of our economy and society, we’ll probably risk significantly greater turmoil
Professor Rajan addressed challenges such as growing inequality, the downward mobility of the middle classes worldwide, debt-fuelled growth, close to zero-interest rates, protectionism and the risks of political backlashes.
The meeting was moderated by Klas Eklund, Senior Economist at SEB.
