Russia’s invasion of Ukraine exposed vulnerabilities in global food supply chains. Many countries responded by increasing self-sufficiency and introducing export restrictions and tariffs. At the same time, climate change is altering the conditions for agricultural production: parts of Africa, Southern Europe and the Middle East risk losing agricultural capacity, while Northern Europe may benefit from longer growing seasons.
This raises questions about where food is best produced and what roles trade and domestic production should play. How can Europe secure food supplies in an uncertain world and changing climate?
Welcome to a seminar at which Ishan Nath, a researcher at Harvard Kennedy School, will present his research, followed by a discussion with representatives from across the food supply chain.
The seminar will be held in English and is part of Lindbeck Policy Talks, a collaboration between SNS and the Assar Lindbeck Centre at Stockholm University.
