Sweden and Europe are rearming amid a security policy landscape unlike anything seen since the Second World War. How resources are converted into actual defence capability is rarely studied using economic methods. That is the gap SNS Defence Economics aims to fill.
Over three years, SNS will bring together researchers in economics and other fields to produce independent knowledge on topics including defence financing, procurement and the defence industry, deterrence and alliances, personnel supply, and economic resilience and warfare.
The research will be presented in reports, seminars, and roundtable discussions bringing together researchers, policymakers, government agencies, and the business community.
Would you like to help shape the project?
SNS is forming a reference group for the project with representatives from business, government agencies, and other actors in society. The project starts in the autumn of 2026.
