SNS/SHOF Finance panel: Should Sweden join the European Banking Union?

The Swedish Government has appointed an inquiry to analyse the implications of Sweden possibly joining the European Banking Union.

The inquiry is to report on the advantages, disadvantages and risks associated with participating in or remaining outside the Banking union.

Some of the topics analysed are: How will supervision and crisis management be affected? What will be the consequences for the competitiveness of the Swedish banking system? On what conditions can Sweden participate?

The 16:th of December the inquiry chair, Director General Anna-Karin Jatko, will present the report at the SNS/SHOF Finance panel.

Nicolas Véron, Bruegel and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), a leading authority on the European banking union, will comment on the report from a European perspective.

The Finance Panel is a meeting forum for the financial sector, hosted by SNS and the Swedish House of Finance.

Swedish House of Finance (SHOF) at the Stockholm School of Economics is Sweden’s national research center in financial economics.

The meeting will be held in English and is moderated by Pehr Wissén, Ph.D. economics, Professor Emeritus of Practice, Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Registration and fee

The number of seats is limited. The seminar is open to SNS members*, SHOF and the press, and specially invited guests. The fee is SEK 995 +VAT. An invoice will be sent after the seminar. Register through the link below. Cancellation after December 12 or no-show will be charged.
