SNS wins award for Best EU Social Policy Think Tank

Prospect, the British magazine of ideas, has given SNS its think tank of the year award in the EU Social Policy category for the second time in three years.

The SNS Economic Policy Council Report 2017 “Policies for an Inclusive Labour Market” was highlighted by the judges in their comment on the award. They drew particular attention to the fact that the report did not shrink from difficult conclusions regarding what needs to be done to get vulnerable groups, such as immigrants, into the labour market.

“It is part of our mission to help Swedish research of high quality to be absorbed into the international debate. Therefore, we are honoured that our efforts to highlight labour market policy issues is recognized internationally through this award. We will continue to analyse labour market integration in our new research project Learning about Integration,” says Mia Horn af Rantzien, MD of SNS.

The authors of the labour market report are three economists: Stefan Eriksson, Lena Hensvik and Oskar Nordström Skans. It has attracted widespread interest since it was published in January and has been quoted extensively in public debate on Sweden’s labour market policy.

The Prospect Think Tank of the Year Awards were founded in 2001. They are an annual recognition of the important and influential work carried out by think tanks across the globe.
The awards aim to give credit to the most original, influential and rigorous work on the most pressing challenges facing people, governments and businesses today.

Among the winners in the other categories in 2017 were Brussels-based Bruegel and Britain’s Chatham house.

Sweden’s ambassador to Great Britain Torbjörn Sohlström accepted the award on behalf of SNS at the award-giving ceremony in London.
