Why are Men Falling Behind?

Seminar Fri 12 September 2025
time and place

Friday 12 September 2025, 09:00–10:00
SNS, Jakobsbergsgatan 18, Stockholm. Breakfast and registration from 08:30.

New research shows that boys and men, particularly those from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, are facing growing challenges in education, employment, and health.

Richard Reeves, British American social scientist, visits SNS to discuss what he in his book Of Boys and Men describes as “The Modern Male Malaise”. Together with economist Erica Lindahl, who offers insights from a Swedish perspective, the discussion will explore similarities and differences between the U.S. and Sweden – and what the two countries can learn from each other.

SNS cohosts the seminar with the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University, whose research focuses on social policy, welfare, inequality, and labor market.

The seminar will be held in English.
