Friday 18 March 2022, 13:30–14:30
SNS, Jakobsbergsgatan 18 i Stockholm

SNS welcomes Kadri Simson, the EU Commissioner for Energy, to a seminar focusing on energy security in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A top priority for the European Commission is to lessen Europe’s dependence on fossil fuels and to promote a shift toward clean energy. While accelerating this transition the Commission also seeks to increase the resilience of the European energy systems and tackle the impact of rising energy prices.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has put yet more pressure on the European energy situation and last week the Commission launched REPowerEU, a plan to make Europe independent from Russian fossil fuels before 2030.

Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson will join a SNS seminar to shed further light on these issues. Joining her in a panel discussion are Anna Borg, CEO of Vattenfall, and Anders Egelrud, CEO of Stockholm Exergi.

The seminar is a collaboration between SNS and the European Commission’s representation in Stockholm within the framework of SNS’ research project Energy systems of the future.
