Extractive Industries and Sustainability

Tid och plats

Tisdag 12 september 2017, 18:00–20:30

Roundtable and dinner with Jonas Moberg, Head of The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Oil production and mining have often been associated with corruption and environmental degradation. Many countries do not manage to get good governance systems in place. To highlight these questions, SNS has invited Jonas Moberg, Head of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

EITI is an international transparency standard, implemented by 52 countries, and supported by the hundred largest oil and mining companies, pension funds and a large group of NGOs. The EITI board is led by former Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt, and has representatives from democratic countries, from dictatorships with extensive corruption, from the largest US oil companies as well as from radical NGOs.

Christine Batruch, Vice President Corporate Responsibility at Lundin Petroleum, will give a comment. Former Prime Minister of Sweden Fredrik Reinfeldt, Chairman of the EITI board, will also give a remark on why he believes EITI is important.

The meeting is by invitation only and part of SNS Sustainability Roundtable.
