SNS Economic Policy Group Report 2000: Power and Accountability in Swedish Politics

In this report from 2000, the authors argue for that problems, which reflect weaknesses in Sweden’s political institutions exist. Amongst such problems, one finds an unclear distribution of powers, inadequate scrutiny and weak accountability of those in positions of public power. These problems, it is argued, have important effects on the economic policies carried out within Sweden. Finally, the report brings forth thirty concrete proposals for institutional reform in Sweden, with the aim to strengthen democratic control and improve economic well-being.
