2024 är ett avgörande år för Europas framtid. I juni är det val till Europaparlamentet och därefter ska en ny EU-kommission presentera sina prioriteringar. Samtidigt står EU inför flera stora utmaningar så som Rysslands krig mot Ukraina, ett alltmer ansträngt geopolitiskt världsläge och den planerade utvidgningen av unionen. Även svagheterna i EU:s konkurrenskraft blir tydligare i ett läge där Kina och USA storsatsar på grön omställning, digitalisering och AI. Vid årets Tylösandskonferens samtalar vi om dagens och framtidens EU med framstående forskare, företagsledare och experter.

Lars Danielsson

Lars Danielsson

Lars Danielsson is the former Permanent Representative of Sweden to the EU, a position he held between the years 2016-2023. Prior, he has had diplomatic missions as Sweden’s Ambassador in Seoul, South Korea and Berlin, Germany. For 15 years he served as State Secretary and Foreign Policy Advisor to two former prime ministers of Sweden. Today he serves as an expert and senior advisor on EU-Affairs at Lumo advice.

Catherine E. De Vries

Catherine De Vries is a Professor of Political Science at Bocconi University where she holds the Generali Endowed Chair in European Policies. At Bocconi University, she is also the Dean of the International Affairs, and co-chair of the International Advisory Council. She specializes in topics such as EU-scepticism, political entrepreneurship, and the impact of migration on politics. She is particularly interested in understanding how and why international cooperation is increasingly being challenged by domestic opposition and nationalist political forces.

She has published several books. Her first book Euroscepticism and the Future of European Integration (2018) received the European Union Studies Association (EUSA) Best Book in EU Studies Award and was listed in the top-5 books on Europe’s future by the Financial Times. This year she will publish her forth book on the political consequences of migrant remittances. Catherine De Vries is the founder of Eupinion, an independent platform for European public opinion, collecting data on how the European public thinks about current political issues.

Tom Erixon

Tom Erixon is the President and CEO of Alfa Laval AB since 2016. Previously he has held positions as President and CEO of the Ovako Group, President of Sandvik Coromant and a number of senior positions in Sandvik and Boston Consulting Group. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Afry and Teknikföretagen.

Micael Johansson

Micael Johansson is the President and CEO of Saab since 2019. Micael joined Saab in 1985 and has since held various senior positions including Deputy CEO and Head of Business Area Surveillance. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Board at the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and is a Board member of the European Business Leaders’ Convention.

Enrico Letta

Enrico Letta served as Prime Minister of Italy in 2013-2014 and as leader of the Italian Democratic Party in 2021-2023. He was Minister of European affairs in 1998, Minister of Industry in 1999-2001, and Member of the European Parliament from 2004-2009.

In 2014, he became Dean of the School of International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris. Today, he is the President of the Jacques Delors Institute and member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. In September 2023 he received a mandate from the European institutions to elaborate a High-Level Report on the future of the Single Market.

Letta has a degree in International Law from the University of Pisa and a Doctorate in European Community Law from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa.

Eva Lindström

Since 2018, Eva Lindström has served as the Swedish Member of the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg, following her role as State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation from 2014 to 2018. Prior to this, she served as the Auditor-General and Budget Director at the Ministry of Finance. She has also held roles such as Deputy Chairperson of the Swedish Fiscal Policy Council, board member of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, and the Swedish Transport Administration. Since 2018 she is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and currently serves on the SNS Board of Directors.

Lotta Lyrå

Lotta Lyrå is the President and CEO of Södra Skogsägarna. She has held several senior positions at both Södra and IKEA, and prior to her current role, she was the President and CEO of Clas Ohlson. She also serves as a Board member of Kivra, Spendrups and Skogsindustrierna.

Samir Saran

Samir Saran is the President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India’s premier think tank, headquartered in New Delhi with affiliates in North America and the Middle East. His research focuses on issues of global governance, climate and energy policy, technology policy, and India’s foreign policy.

Saran curates the Raisina Dialogue, India’s annual flagship platform on geopolitics and geo-economics, and is the founder of CyFy, India’s annual conference on cybersecurity and internet governance. He was the Chair of the Think20 Secretariat under the Indian presidency of the G20. He is a member of the Global Risks Advisory Board and Chair of the Global Future Council on Geopolitics of the World Economic Forum. He has served as a Commissioner of The Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace.

He completed his doctoral studies at the Global Sustainability Institute, UK. He holds a Master’s degree in Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. He has authored four books and written several academic papers and book chapters. He is featured regularly in Indian and international print and broadcast media.

Anna Stellinger

Anna Stellinger is Head of International and EU Affairs at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. Prior to this, she served as the Director General at the National Board of Trade and previously as the Director of the Swedish Institute for European Studies (SIEPS). She holds university degrees in Political Science and French from Lund University and an International Master in International Affairs from Sciences Po in Paris. She has been a research director at several French non-partisan think tanks in Paris. Stellinger served as Vice Chairman of Lund University and has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) since 2023. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Business Sweden, the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) and Swedfund.

Göran von Sydow

Göran von Sydow is Director of the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies (SIEPS). Previously, he has been senior researcher in political science at SIEPS and lecturer at the Department of Political Science, Stockholm University. Göran holds a PhD in political science and has studied at the European University Institute in Florence, Sciences Po in Paris, and Stockholm University. Göran is also a board member of Swedish Radio.

Katrine Kielos-Marçal

Katrine Kielos-Marçal is a Swedish journalist, lecturer and moderator based in England. She writes for the Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter and is the author of books like Who Cooked Adam Smith’s Dinner?, which was named one the greatest books of the year by The Guardian in 2015, and Mother Of Invention: How Good Ideas Get Ignored In An Economy Built For Men. In her role as a financial journalist, she has interviewed several of the world’s leading economic thinkers, politicians, and business leaders.
